Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights.....for an hour. On March 28, 2009, Earth Hour was taken to the next level, with more than 1 billion people turned off their lights....for an hour.
For a moment, I like you to think about switching off your lights for merely 5 minutes earlier everday. Your actions may translate into saving lights for more than 30 hours a year in fighting global warming.
